San Diego (part 2)

On Wednesday my Mom and Grandma had to fly back home. We missed them, but were very glad that they were able to join us for part of the week. Tim was also able to fix the stroller wheel that was broken by the airline using a lawnmower wheel from Home Depot - thank goodness he is an engineer!

Tim and the kids went to Sea World. Celia sat in the appropriately named "Splash Zone" at the Killer Whale show and got soaked!

We all found time to visit the beautiful Torry Pines state beach. Despite the cool water, everyone loved the sand and surf.

We rode a circa 1910 carousel in Balboa Park after we went to the Body World exhibit at the Natural History Museum.

Of course there was swimming - Grant loves the water.

We were all very tired when we got home.

San Diego (part1)

We just returned from an 8 day stay in San Diego, California. My Mom and Grandma were able to fly out to join us for the first few days of our visit – which was great! We visited the Seaport Village area and saw a great street entertainer. Celia even got involved in the show, helping “Jimmy Talks A lot” to tie himself up, then escape.

I was in San Diego for a business training and conference, but I did have one day off (Sunday), and we took advantage of it by visiting the world famous San Diego Zoo.

While I was at the conference, everyone else got to visit ‘Little Italy’ and ‘Old Town’ in the historic downtown area of San Diego. One afternoon we all visited the Cabrillo National Monument /Point Loma Lighthouse. The Light house has been wonderfully restored and it was interesting to see how the family that ran the light house lived their day to day lives.

We also stopped to explore the Point Loma tidepools.

Independence Day

Grant is really learning new skills quickly. This week he has learned to clap his hands and play 'hide and seek'. He hides his face and laughs while everyone in the room starts 'looking' for him. It is so funny to hear those tiny muffled laughs while he is hiding his face!

He is also crawling all over the place! Sometimes he gets himself into some funny spots......

We drove to Springfield to meet and visit with my Dad. We stopped briefly at Bass Pro Shop to look at all the fish, ducks and other animals. Grant was fascinated by all the activity and things to see!
